CHINA'S J 20 vs INDIAN RAFALE

Rafale is a game changer,  chinese J 20 doesn't even come close,  says former air chief Dhanoa. 

CHINESE AIR FORCE-

PLAAF operates a range of fighter plan,  including sukhoi- SU-27,  SU-30MKK,  and SU-35S,  chengdu- j7 and chengdu-j10.

But since Rafale is one of the most technologically advanced aircraft of IAF,  it is only fair to compare it with chengdu -j20.

China's most advanced  fighter aircraft. 

CHENGDU -J20-

The dassault rafale is a french twin- engine,  canard delta wing,  multi roll fighter aircraft and consider to be in the 4.5th generation category. 

J-20 is a single seat,  twin-jet, all weather, stealth, 5th generation fighter aircraft developed by china's chengdu aerospace corporation. 

FIFTH GENERATION AIRCRAFT FIGHTER -

The exact characteristics of 5th generation jet fighters are controversial and vague with lockheed martin defining them as having all aspects stealth even when armed,  low probability of intercept radar (LPIR),  high performance airframes,  advanced avionics features and highly integrated computer  system capable of networkingwith other element within  the battle space  for situation awareness. 

DETAILS-

The j-29 is the world's 3rd operational 5th generation stealth fighter aircraft  after the f-22 and f-35.

The sukhoi su-57 is slated for delivery to the russian air force in 2020.

J-20 stealth techniques -

The j-20 claimed to be 5th generation aircraft  by the chinese,  which means it has stealth capability. 

But stealth doesn't have a huge impact. 

The USA had claimed that their F-22 raptor fighter aircraft had the edge over others due to stealth technology,  however,  during a mock drill in UAE, in 2009 a rafale had successfully tracked and target an f-22 raptor aircraft. 

4.5th generation fighter aircraft -

The USA define 4.5th generation fighter aircraft as 4th generation jet fighter  that have been upgraded with AESA radar.

High capacity data link,  enhanced avionics, and the ability to deploy current and reasonably foreseeable advanced armament. 

SO WHAT MAKES RAFALE SPECIAL? 

 Rafale have a special technology SPECTRA which can detect a stealth fighter aircraft and jam the radar system of the other fighter aircraft. So it can tract and target easily. 

RAFALE VS J-20 -

Weapon's -

The chinese j-20 equivalent of the rafale meteor as the PL-15 missile, which according to report published by the international institute for strategic study in early 2018 would be the most capable air to air missile in the PLAAF inventry.

METEOR(MISSILE ) -

Operational range in excess of 100km (54nmi) no escape zone of 60km(32nmi). 

China claims 300km range for PL-15

But this range for large aircraft like  refuelling aircraft and transporting aircraft not for small nimble fighter jet.
